"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experience." Gordon B. Hinckley, 2006

52 Weeks of Blessings: Week 6, Snow!

I can't remember a winter like this in a long time! We've gotten so much snow this winter! It just won't stop. Hopefully it means we won't be in a draught this summer. It seems like that is always an issue here in Utah.
This is us last Sunday trying to brave the elements and go to church.
Lots of our neighbors have these 4 wheelers with little snow plows on the front. They drive around the neighborhood clearing off everyone's sidewalks. Such a nice act of goodwill. Below is our friend Mike (Ann's husband) clearing off a elderly couple's sidewalks. What a nice guy. They could never do that on their own.

This is what the snow looks like in the cul-de-sacs. It's covering the basketball standards!

Uh--I don't think we'll be driving this car anytime soon. Brian just sort of snow blows around it.

The cats just stare out the window at the snow. They're longing to go out and play, but they won't go out in this cold.

Last week we had to stop and tow a couple of people out on the way to church. Brian loves doing that sort of thing. I remember when we were newly married--one of his favorite pasttimes during the winter was on the day of a big storm, driving around with his tow rope looking for people to rescue.

Here he is towing out Wes's 4 wheeler.

The icing on the cake: when we got to church there were some ski boots and skiis sitting inside the door. Someone had seriously skiied to church!

  • What do you think of all this snow?

The snow is amazing this year. It doesn't bother me. I just don't want to see people hurt in auto accidents. You and Brian are some of the sweetest people I know. I wish we were neighbors you would be the best. I love ya!

I love all those pictures!!

The snow this year has been INSANE!! I don't remember a year like this, they say it hasn't been like this in a long long time. I'm not so worried about drought this summer, I'm a little more concerned about floods this spring!! Especially down by the other end of the golf course, where my sister lives. Yikes!

We have only had about 3 inches total all year long. 3 inches may be stretching it too. Looks like fun. Stay safe and warm.

Ski to church! Cool! :)
We have just gotten snow this weekend and today and it is actually enough that you can not see the grass under it! I'm glad that you've gotten tons. Ski Utah!
What a nice guy Brian is to go looking for people to tow! :)

Love the snow! At least when we don't have to drive in it! I like when it snows but then warms up some so that the sidewalks and driveways (if they were shoveled) get a chance to melt and not cause ice. If my husband had a good vehicle I could see him driving around helping people who are stuck, he already loves to shovel the snow and shovels quite a few driveways on sundays.

Our snow is all gone,it is sunny and in the 50s. But we do have some winds.

Spring will be here soon girl. Stay strong and WARM:)

I think skiing to church might make it more interesting and enticing to the less active. Your bishop should make that an option.

I CANNOT believe all the snow you guys have. Crazy!

I can't believe how much snow we keep getting. Great pictures of all the snow. The sunshine this week end and today really made me happy.

When we were dating my husband would borrow his parents suburban and go "rescue" cars from the snow. He loved it--it brought the biggest smile to his face. Alas, where we live now, we don't be doing that anytime soon, if ever!

The snow is a blessing but an even greater blessing is the 4-wheelers to clear your driveway! It has been a crazy winter we will all be glad when spring is here!

SNOW!?! I am so jealous! We have not seen a flake all year. Today it is cold. It is in the 50's. Saturday it was 71. I love living in eastern NC. But, I would love to have one day of snow for pictures, and of course a day off.
(Everything closes when it snows 1 inch around here. We panic!)
It looks beautiful. I will just enjoy your photos!

ahhh the snow...so much snow. Our house looks just like that...although it's wayyy older and not as nice by any means...but the snow piled up looks exactly the same. What a mess! Our ward was cancelled last week...they asked everyone to just go dig the ward members out of their driveways. No one was at church! That's the first time I can remember ever having church cancelled. Crazy. Brian is so nice...I wish I was your neighbor too!

All I can say is Holy Cow! I cannot imagine living in that. I make one of the boys go out to cover my flowers if it sounds like it's going to freeze in the night (because it's too cold for me to go out and do it myself).

LOL, someone skiied to church! That is just too funny. You sure have gotten a lot of snow. As much as I like snow I'm happy to live where I do.

Wow! You did get alot of snow. For me, snow is something you visit. I don't think I could handle living in it. It does seem to present some fun memories though! How funny that someone skiied to church!

Wow - that is a crazy amount of snow. Conditions are similar here in Toronto and it's storming again right now. I'm really feeling fed up!

I was so happy yesterday when most of the snow melted... then today it was a blizzard again! Will spring ever get here!?! One more question before I go, is it bad we had a snow day on that dreadful Sunday and skipped church? ;)

I know you wont believe me but it sure looks like fun! I have never lived in the snow and have only seen it snow twice. Yes, it's true! So even though you may be sick of it I think it's beautiful and makes me want to go and bake something. I think I always bake when it's cold outside. I'm a weirdo!
